If you work for commission only, is it legal to not get paid when you have to go in just for training?

we are in Minnesota.

Not necessarily. It would be illegal after you did your paperwork and have written notification as to what your commission structure would be, etc and they said there would be an hourly wage during training. Most companies offer a specific rate amount per hour during training before you are able to make commission. If you never signed any documentation, or were told differently, it is completely legal.
