Police recruitment query in UK? |
My brother is 19 he has 6 standard grades but has not worked since he left school. He was homeless following the breakup of our parents marriage. He now has his own flat but wants to join police. Does he have any chance with being unemployed all this time? He has no criminal record My son had spells of unemployment prior to joining Sussex police three and a half years ago,so your brother being unemployed shouldn't be a problem. My son really enjoys his job and finds it very rewarding. I wish your brother all the best for the future Yeah for sure, they take any old down and out these days. As long as he doesn't have a criminal record then the answer is yes, of course he can apply I don't see why not, no harm in trying!! yes he does have a very good chance, ask him to go along to his nearest local police station they will give him all the information he needs, after he applies and is accepted he will need to sit an exam and if he passes that then the next stage of interview is a home visit, then further training, hope this helps xx My friends son tried to join Lincolnshire police force after sitting his a levels etc and was turned down, the reason being(in a letter so no doubts as to the validity of this story) they were only recruiting women and ethnic minorities!!!!????? If he had been my son,I would have gone to the race and sexual discrimination board with it!Not to mention the papers and tv companies. It is a disgrace, this country is a joke and unfortunately the jokes on the native British people. If your brother can display all the necessary skills that the particular Police Force are looking for and indeed has no criminal record then he should have no problem getting in. The fact that he has been homeless need not matter, he just explains this on his application for or at the initial interview stage. We are all victims of circumstance at one point in our life. You generally need good passes in English and Maths to be considered as the Police deal with a lot of written reports and correspondence. Tell him to go for it. What has he got to lose????? |
