Can a person with a felony background become a software engineer and be able to obtain employment?

Yea, the law says your not supposed to discriminate against those who have been incarcerated. But realisticly, it happens. No one wants to work with a felon. If you can somehow prove that you were denyed the job because of your conviction you can sue. But you must always disclose that you have a criminal record, otherwise they can deny you the job because you werent truthful.
Can they? Sure. Is it likely that they will have an easy time finding a job? It depends on what they were charged with, and how good of an engineer they are. A really good engineer will be very likely to find a job someplace.
anything is possible in the USA
