There is no law that prohibits a company from firing an employee by email.

Why can't they fire you on your day off via email? Why would you sue? On what grounds? Maybe you should have been fired...
Probably, and maybe, but not likely. It depends on why you were fired. See an attorney if you think you were wrongly terminated. Those types of cases are expensive and hard to win.
I don't think you can sue for being a poor employee. Maybe you should have done a better job.
Unless you are a contract worker don't waste your time on a Lawyer they can fire you at anytime, for anything, save a few discrimination issues.

Sue for what?
I don't think the method of terminiation is a requirement, but I believe you have to be told the grounds for your dismissal.
