Can an employer insist a specific brand of clothing be worn without providing a clothing allowance?

I was told to wear black chef pants, no jeans I said fine and ordered some more chef's pants. Now my employer is insisting I wear Dickies brand pants and nothing else. Is this right?

Yes, BUT save your receipts for all uniform work clothes and you can use those expenses as a deduction when tax time rolls around. (If they aren't reimbursing you.)
Yes they can.
Yes. They can specify what you wear. Most would not specify brand, but they certainly can if they wish.
If you have an "at will" agreement with them, then the answer is yes
YES..just the way it is..
by law he can do this.
They can do this, but generally would specify the brand when they tell you originally what to purchase. I would encourage them, in the future, to have a written notice for new hires if they cannot be more clear about what they want when you get hired.
