Employer wont pay? |
My son worked for a construction company as a self employed worker, unfortunately he had to wait 4 weeks for his UTR number, which meant that the company could not keep his job open for him now he has his UTR no and the company are now refusing to pay him for the 5 days that he had originally worked for them. Can they do this ? . There's not much you can do, there's no reason they could not pay with out the utr but you pay 30% tax with out it and 20% with it. every self employed bulider i know has at some point not been payed work the've done. All he can do is keep trying. I would contact the Labor Board. I think it is illegal to even have him on the job site. First get some information from them and ask what your options are and then you may have something over the companies head where they would be more than happy to pay instead of a bunch of paperwork falling on their desk. Adult experience. your son can claim his work time to the local magistrate and tell him or her what happened.. best i can do hope it helps Yes they can, and the only thing your son can do is to sue them which is very expensive if he lost the case. There is no other redress for this matter. Get in touch with ACAS for legal advice, if in UK. Helpline number available on the web site Does you self employed working son have a record that he work the five says. Mr Self employed is suppose to keep track of his own time--"""self employed""" A claim to the State Wage & Labor office might prove fruitful. ... |
