Impact of accusation on future substitute teaching career?? |
On my 18th birthday I was fired from a christian camp in Kansas City. I was led to believe that I was being fired for being open with my sexuality to my co-workers. About a month later I was informed of an investigation by child protection services of an accusation that I had T-Bagged a camper. After I was informed and interviewed I never was contacted about the case again. I assume that it has been dropped. No charges were ever brought up. I was never arrested. Could this prevent me from working in the education field? It will not show up anywhere. Even if charges had been filed, if you hadn't been convicted, a background check would not show it. Since charges weren't even filed, you're golden. No charges were filed therefore it will not show on a criminal background check, however it could show when they contact previous employers. Background checks are not limited to just criminal and criminal is not limited to just convictions entered. The only way to really know is to contact a company like ORCA and pay them to do a complete background check on yourself. It will cost around $ 350 but you will be shocked at what you will get back. There is no law that prevents perpetuating gossip in a background check and there is no law that requires that the information is verifiable truth. Any BS that informants want to pass on can be there. Pay for the back ground check and deal with the issues. Criminal investigations on background checks only search county, state, and Federal databases for convictions. There is no record of allegations, substantiated or otherwise, unless those allegations resulted in a conviction. So a background check should come up clean. If it concerns you, you should be able to have your own criminal background check run on the Net for about $20 - $25. And tell the folks in Kansas that you can be gay and still be a Christian. The last I heard, Jesus doesn't discriminate. Sheesh. |
