Are employers required to provide backpay if they forget to key you in for a raise a year and a half before? |
My employer forgot to enter me into the system as my actual job instead of the one I started with. If I had been changed when I began my current position, I would have gotten a .25 cent raise. They just now realized it (1 yr and a half later) and refuse to compensate even though it's their fault and I deserve it for the last year and a half. Does any one know if they have to give it to me and does anyone have a website providing proof? Looks like the others have answered your question. Here is a comment. First negotiate. Someone might be losing face. So provide them with a solution like giving you a bonus, time off, a bigger pay rise now. Avoid using the stick approach until a last resort. If nothing happens and you have no proof of the agreed pay rise or initial rate of pay (normally they give you a letter in writing) then it might not be worth fighting for 25 cents which comes to a few hunder bucks (I think, but calculate it for yourself). Then again they would most likely settle as the amount is so small - it is not worth their trouble. The biggest thing is to go work for someone else if you are convinced your being ripped off after negotiating with them. hi, go to the labor board website in your state and ask them what you can do about this. check this out ww.roysummers.yournewfortune.c... labor board website in state. have a great day!!! Yes they are . But be careful if you live in a Right to work state , because they can fire you also ! |
