What is the law in Canada regarding breaks?

Is it a law that after 4 hours of work you are entitled to a 15 minute break or is it only up to your company that you work for. I had always thought it was by law but my manager is telling me there is no such law.

In Alberta, I know the law is that from 3.5 - 5 hours of work, employees are entitled to 1 15 minute paid or unpaid break. Anything over 5 hours is entitled to 2 15 minutes or 1 30 minute paid or unpaid break.

Each province is different though. Try googling your provinces labor standards. Should be able to find a list of all the labor laws in that peticular province.
There should be a law. There isn't in BC, they're suppose to give you a break every 5 hours four 1/2 hour but if they don't you get paid for the time. I know, there's been a couple jobs I have had that I didn't even get to go pee. I just don't drink, or drink very little.
I tried to find something cause I agreed with you ,I found half hour break for 5 hours
