Resumes - Confidential document or markteing tool? |
I would like to know if a resume, once in the hands of HR personnel, is a legal confidential document. Or is it a marketing tool free for public consumption? A resume, once submitted to a company, is not considered a legal confidential document. They can share it with fellow managers who may be hiring, or to the owner of the company. They can not post it on line for others to read your information (unless they are an employment agency that has a signed agreement from you to find you a job). It's generally a marketing tool free for public consumption unless your cover letter indicates that you have confidentiality concerns, for example with a current employer. Generally it is a marketing tool -- for you to use. Most HR people are only going to share it with reason. However, if you have had a bad experience with regard to one, you may want to post a question about that experience. |
