What is a Legal Secretary ?

To add to what the others have mentioned, the legal secretary may act as the lawyer's 'right hand man'. And they typically need to have a great typing speed (as well as with accuracy). Legal transcription (transcribing from a tape recorder what the lawyer wants to convey in a letter or memo) may be another duty of the legal secretary. I have heard that lawyers/attorneys can be quite difficult to work for as many tend to be type-A personality, quite rigid and overachiever. I am a Legal Secretary. Not by choice it just happened over the years and I will tell you that for me it is the most stressful job ever!! (my opinion only) I work for (4) attorneys and I am the only SECRETARY!! Someone mentioned that attorneys are difficult to work for and that is understatement! LOL. Think about it before you go into this field or email me;I don't mean to be negative! but you have to be a tough person to work in this field or find just the right kind of firm to work for. I have no extra help and I'm expected to complete all tasks and then some. I wish you well if you choose to go this route!!
