Is going to a non aba law school worth it?

i was wondering if anyone knew if going to a non aba law school was worth it?

Unless you're doing it for fun, no.

Not every ABA school is even worth it. Check carefully for employment after graduation statistic when applying to law schools.

For example, Cooley is ABA approved, but 9 months after graduation 25% of their students are still unemployed, and those that are employed average a salary in the low-40s. That is only slightly higher than many earn with a Bachelors degree, a slight (if any) increase in earning power over a BA that is often offset entirely by student loans.

In addition, many law schools flunk a considerable amount of students out every year - meaning that you have to pay one or two years' tuition and still don't get a degree. While those who excel do graduate, and might even get good jobs, keep in mind that every student in your entering class is convinced they will be among those lucky few - and only a handful are.

Law school is not a magic gate to employment and wealth that many perceive it to be. The legal world is harshly elitist, and often only those from the top schools reap the benefits.

Unless you have money to burn (or a significant scholarship) and have a specific reason for the degree (automatic raise at a job you plan to remain at, personal fulfillment), tread cautiously in the law school admissions world.

Edited to Add: California does allow non-ABA school graduates to practice, after rigorous screening requirements and a first-year exam. However, remember that bar admission =/= employment! Source(s): http://www.law.com/jsp/law/careercenter/...

If you are going for personal gain, not to practice, maybe. But if you intend to be a legal professional, go to an accredited school.
No, I would think that it would be redundant and perhaps preclude you from getting a decent job. Better to either raise one's gpa (grade point average) and any other test scores or choosing a different profession.

No. It's just as expensive and not worth as much. A lot of states won't give you a license without a degree from an ABA school.

Go to an ABA school.
