What are the limits at work regarding:?

what are the limits on when you should have a break at work or take a lunch.
My work sometime doesn't give people breaks for five hours and lunches for six hours.

Nation Wide It's The LAW. You work no more then 2 and a half hours your to take a 15 MIN. break. Any time you have to go to the bathroom you Go To The Bathroom. 4 to 5 hours of work you are to get a Full Half Hr. break. After noon another 15 min break. Go to the bathroom before you have a break. So you get off your feet for at least 15 min. Call your B.B.B. Source(s): Also the Labor Board.

Every place I've worked, you are supposed to get one 15 minute break for up to 5.75 hours of work....over six hours, you get one 20 minute break. If you're working 6.5 or more hours, you get one 30 minute lunch. If you're working 8-9 hours, you get two 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch, and if you're working 9.5 or more hours, you get two 15 minute breaks and an hour lunch. I'm pretty sure that covers it....so yeah I don't think your work is doing it right, but it depends on your state so I'm not sure. Most places have something posted in their break room regarding state laws for breaks.
There are different laws for children vs. adults.

For Adults, the FLSA states that there is no law that requires a company to give you any breaks. However, the company MUST pay you for that time. So, if your employer requires you to work through a break or lunch, they have to pay you for that time and if it is over 40 hours a week, you must receive overtime.

For children, they can only work certain hours if they are between the ages of 14 and 15:

3 on school days, including Fridays
18 total in school weeks
8 on non-school days
40 total per week, when school is not in session

For 16 and 17 year old children, the employer can schedule the same amount of hours as an adult but these workers can not be assigned to hazardous job duties.

for the last time, legal questions usually involve state law. you don't say what state you're in therefore NO ONE CAN ANSWER! those that did are idiots because they don't know where you are and the law varies!
