I need to sue a former employer who bounced payroll checks on me twice which made all my checks bounce? |
This company has bounced my payroll checks.which made my account go into the negative and my car to be reposessed. They owe me so much, the company is in NJ I am so stressed by this what kind of action can i take against them Call both your state and the US Department of Labor immediately. This is illegal for two reasons. It is illegal to write a check that will bounce and since this is payroll, they knew it would bounce. It also sounds like this was not just a case of them having checks that did not clear in time, because it must have taken some time for you to submit a check for your car, have it bounce, and then have your car repossessed. It is illegal to withhold pay for any reason. They knowingly did this when they wrote the bad checks. You also need to find a bank that provides more communication. How long did it take for you to learn that the check bounced? My bank would have let me know that immediately.
