Petition for work!?

My husband works out of town for two weeks and ahs to buy all his food and gas but all the other companies are paying there men a per diem everyday 25-50 dollars or so for thier food and gas.. His job is awesome and people are so kind but I wanted him to petition for this because they deserve it! How would I go about wording it though I don't want to be to in the dictionary I guess but to the point!

First your talking 100 to 200 monthly...is he making such little money that is an issue, or is it the principal that others are paid? If they say no, are you willing to go to the next step?
Is it worth the risk of being skipped over when a promotion is called for? I suggest you thing this through 5 or 10 steps of what ifs,,,and at this point if the chips stack in your favor then go for it be clear and to the point, period. Maybe their willing to pay if you just ask...
If his job requires him to be out of town for days, he already has allowances to pay for his hotel (board and lodging). Guess what? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but is an alarm bell ringing?
Then your husband should go to work for the other company(ies).

You do realize that he should be able to write off most of his expenses on his taxes, thus recouping some of his expenditures. Talk to a CPA or tax preparer to see if this is possible.

If his job is so awesome and he likes what he does and you guys are surviving let it be. Maybe when it comes time for an employee review he could negotiate with his boss for some extra money to help cover his expenses. If he is a good and valued employee the boss may be open to that.

But little or no good would come of you submitting a "petition" to change the work rules. There are just too many people looking for work now.
