Law School Question...Help Please?

Okay So I am a senior right and I always planned on going into the criminal justice field but I want to change it to pre-law. So my question is do you take pre-law before you go into law school? Then you go into law school right? About how many years it that of school & what kind of job can you get with a pre law major? Also can you just go into law school without pre law? Does anyone know some good pre law schools in Texas?

Pre-law is really just some suggested courses -- Most law schools simply specify that you need to have obtained a Bachelors.

So if you have a Bachelors in CJ, you are good to go after you do well on your LSAT's.

Here is a link to the information from the ABA about becoming a lawyer:

Wrong. Dont major in prelaw - its crap. A really good school doesn't even offer prelaw because it's not a real subject. Major in econ or science or something that all the other lawyers to be aren't. And then if you decide not to go to law school (about a 75% chance you will change your mind), you have a more useful degree that doesn't pigeon hole you so much.

Law school should be 2 yrs, but it's really 3.

UT Austin is a good and for state resident cheap law school to shoot for.

poly sci is the best undergrad major to go with. if you do not like law school, you can still do a lot with this major. ask your counselor to give you the list of jobs associated with your major. you need your four years of undergrad, and then three years of law, and then you have to pass the bar. sorry, i don't know law schools in Texas. why don't you go to the criminal courts one day and talk to the DA's office and see if they will let sit out with somebody for the day, and pick their brain? they are usually very happy to help a person with a bright future.
This is my 2 cents. Pick any major. You can get a degree in interior design and go to law school. Unfortunately, there are no pre-reqs for admission to law school, unlike med school, where you have to do all those science courses. Law school is pretty easy to get into to, it is not very elite. You can get into a law school with with Bs and Cs, they just want your tuition. A boat load of law students have useless Poly-Sci degrees, the only thing a poly-sci degree is for is to go to law school or teach poly sci, it's a lame degree. I would rather get a business or engineering degree because at least they have some practical relationship to the real world. However, I would take electives across campus in different schools, business school offers a business law, real estate law course and usually some others. I would also take a Constitutional law class or two, it is one of the tougher law school classes.
You need to get your bachelor's degree (4 year degree, if you go full time). It can be in any major, it doesn't have to be pre-law at all. It might be a good idea to get a bachelor's degree in a subject that interests you and, if law doesn't work out, that you can fall back on (that you can get a career in after graduating college).

Law school is 3 years (full time, although if you go to summer school and take more than the suggested number of classes, you can probably finish in 2 to 2 1/2 years).
To go to law school, you need a four year degree from a college. It can be in anything - science, accounting, "pre-law", history - really anything at all. Once you get your college degree, you can go to law school. Full time, it takes 3 years to finish. Not sure if you are a senior in high school or college, but hope that helps.
