How much would I make as a corporate lawyer if --?

Okay so my uncles a really good corporate lawyer in New York.. hes one of the best.. if I became a orporate lawyer in Manhattan like him how much would I make? (most likely) Would I get paid more if he gave me some help by getting me a job? Or I used him as a reference?

Also what are the best schools (first four and law) to go to?

Current Corporate associates in big firms (AMLaw 200) start at $160,000 -- but you are required to work a LOT.

Here is an interesting article on current mid level associates:

For a corporate lawyer, there is a huge difference between someone fresh out of law school, versus "one of the best", with years of experience. I would guess around $100K from an ordinary law school, and maybe $140K from Harvard and graduating near the top of your class.

For a top lawyer, with 15 years experience and a lot of success, double or more $300K or more.

The biggest help your lawyer uncle could give you is:
1. Ask him how to get into law school.
2. Ask him how to go about getting a good job when you graduate.

He could be a lot of help advising you where to look for a job. He's only a little bit of help as a reference, because - how would he know how good a lawyer you will be? He just likes you because he's a relative.

Good luck!
apply to places you will get into and some other places...... obviously the ivies have great national reputations however in general sometimes places more into the location have better local reputations..... your best bet is to ask your uncle for advice he might be even able to ask his colleagues and really if you are just now applying to undergraduate college..... remember to keep your grades HIGH and be involved so you have a better chance at getting into law school and keep up on when you will have to take the LSAT and what you can do to prepare for that..... in four years thought you might not even like the idea of being a lawyer so remember that other things are also open to you
