How do you find jobs that don't check your criminal background.?

My friend has a criminal background and she is trying to find a good job in her area, but she dont want people to judge her and hire her based on her background but she wants them to look at her skills. Do you have any jobs in mind in the MD area. Please help her Thanks so much.

Unfortunately, what you do in your past will follow you. However, since she has a criminal background, she'll want to avoid government jobs or jobs that require security of any sort (banking, IT, accounting, medical, military, etc).

However, if I were her, I'd be straight up about my past and how I've changed. They are either going to accept her or reject her and if they found out later she had a past that she hid from them, she'd probably be fired on the spot.

Honesty is the best policy.
I am thinking basically by trial and error?

Tell her to definitely try temp agencies.
almost All companies conduct criminal background checks. Only the very small1 or 2 employee companies do not do this.
good luck
There may be some unskilled laboring jobs -- landscaping or warehouse work, for example -- where employers may not check. However, any jobs that involve a position of trust -- for instance, handling cash as a waitress or clerk -- would likely not be possible for her to fill, because her record will definitely be checked.
Telemarketing or work at home. Telemarketing hires any and all and they never do background checks.
Any employer that hires illegal aliens probably will not do a background check. There are known places where employers pickup workers. With a little research or surveillance, you could find out where they are and who is hiring. But this is not the best solution.

In most large communities, there are employers that hire people with criminal records. Get help from a case worker at the nearest Maryland unemployment office. They should have a list. Then you can be honest on your job application, and start building a history as a great employee.

You can also gain a skill that is in demand (if you do not already have one). The case worker can help you with this. Beware of training schools that just want you to take out a government loan, but they do not teach you a skill that is really in demand.

Good luck
