Tomorrow's my first day at a law firm. its my first job after college. what should i wear? |
my b/f and I are going shopping in 2 hours. i want to be professional yet neat. its a very upscale and prestigious law firm. How about a pair of pants, jacket and a shirt. What I like about outfits like that is that you can mix and match stuff and get a lot of bang for your buck. For instance if you got a black jacket and pants, and maybe a black skirt and a black and white skirt, with a couple of different blouses you can make several outfits out of it for not too much money. Stick to 1/2 way decent brands and clothes YOU CAN WASH or you will spend a fortune on dry cleaning. Don't overlook Sears and Penney's. They have Jones of New York, etc. at good prices and I am a lawyer and get a lot of stuff there in their petite dept. The biggest tip on what to wear though?? A smile and positive attitude. where something like what you wore to the interview that landed you that job. Professional clothes from a top store, but not so bright or trendy you upstage the senior partners. Kent in SD Dress smart by wearing solid soft color suit (summer/fall), no mini skirts, perhaps knee length. Shoes - 2" pump. Don't wear anything flashy. Button blouse/skirt is fine this time of year. Just look chic but professional and check out the other ladies wardroom at the company in your age group. Buy the most expensive and conservative navy blue suit you can afford. Wear a white or pastel blouse, neutral stockings, and navy pumps. Good luck! A pin striped suit.... Maybe gray with small pinstrips of pink...cute matching top. Suit pants or skirt... Good Luck at your new job...... The more professionally you dress, the less likely you are to be the one tagged to make coffee. |
