The Province of Ontario, in Canada, is considering another statutory holiday in February....? |
That will bring the total 'statutory' holidays to 9 per year. What do you think? How will it affect all business owners, either large or small, and is it necessary to have another 'stat'...above and beyond regular holiday/vacation time? It wouldn't hurt business since February is the coldest month of the year and people don't venture out to shop much during Februaries, after all the Christmas sales, Boxing Day sales and January clear out sales. Nobody will miss trooping back to the malls in February. Except for heading to the snow covered hills at parks, ice rinks and skiing resorts which would only be too happy to see an extra day for Ontarians to enjoy the snow. Most notable days in February are: Valentine's Day, Groundhog Day, Canada Flag Day, Ash Wednesday, Pancake Tuesdays and also, February is known as the Black History Month. Perhaps Ontarians should have a referendum and decide among several suggested proposals for another statutory holiday in February. Too bad Terry Fox wasn't born in February. ;( Geeez! Just another lot of money out of my pocket. I think there are more than enough stat. holidays now! How about eliminating Sunday shopping if they need more time for family? |
