Is it legal for your employment to take back vacation time for August(2007) in May (2007)? |
My boss came up to me and said I owe back 6 day that was overtook in May. I called my payroll Dept. and they told me I owe 4 day. Now to my knowlege I owe 4 so I knew they were right, so I told my boss. I found out she was crediting my vac. days in June, July and August, when the payroll Dept. was only on May. She said she'll get back to me and by the next payday my payheck was short. Now, I want to know if this is legal. This company is notorious for doing thing this way, but I am not clear on the law when dealing with things like this. Yup, it sounds fine. At my company, it's just "borrowing" days that you haven't accumulated yet. In other words, it seems like you've "borrowed" vacation days in May from the future. It just sounds like your company is just a bit backed up on keeping track of vacation days. It's unfortunate that they're their slow in keeping track of vacation days, but at least they didn't force you to take a leave of absence without pay back in May which is also fine. Taking a leave of absence just means they won't pay you for the days you were gone. check with your HR for policy regarding vacations. Do you like working for this company ? you could probably check info @ Dept of Labor |
