Is it legal to get suspended from yor job indefenetely??

I'm in Texas. My workplace has recently suspended a few coworkers not knowing what day they'd be back to work.
On my opinion, if somebody gets suspended, then the employer should advise the employee the return date. We're under contract, so im not sure if that has to do something with it.

Suspension is temporary. You have to be terminated or the company goes into bankruptcy
People get suspended fromt their jobs for MANY reasons--and no one EVER gives them a return date UNLESS they specifically stipulate at the TIME OF THE SUSPENSION that it is for a limited time---lets say someone gets a 2-day suspension or a 5-day suspension.... anything other then a specific time stated IS LEGAL....even with a contract... you are working at the DISCRETION OF YOUR EMPLOYER ALWAYS .... cops get suspended if they have been involved in something that looks suspicious UNTIL such time as the matter has been investigated and the cop CLEARED... this could go on for MONTHS.... if someone did something bad enough to be suspended regardless of the amount of time the suspension lasts.... well, maybe they ought not DO what they did any more and they wouldn't have to WORRY about suspensions.
If you're under contract, you need to review the terms of that contract to see what it says about suspension of work.
Often, a co has no idea how long a suspension may last. Someone who is suspended may eventually return to work, or may be terminated.
It depends on the reason for the suspension. If you are suspected of violating a conduct standard, the company can suspend you pending an investigation; the length of suspension could be undetermined since it is unknown how long the investigation will take.

This may also depend on the terms of your contract, so do read over that thoroughly to see if there is a clause regarding job performance and/or disciplinary actions..
