Can you relocate to another (without a job awaiting you) and still receive your unemployment..? |
checks? I have kin who may be willing, in the near future, to help pay for a month or two's worth of apt. rental fees in another state while I job hunt there. I'm currently receiving unemployment here in NY, but wouldn't mind moving West (I've been out there before and I like the climate, people and items are less expensive, too). I checked the Unemployment website but couldn't find any information on this topic. I welcome your responses. The best ones to tell you the answer would be the employment office that you go to for your unemployment checks. Each state differs and they would know. Good luck to you. If you leave your normal labor market to travel to another area within New York or another state, you must call the Telephone Claims Center before leaving. You will be told whether your benefit rights can be protected while you are away. Failure to advise the TCC before you leave could result in a denial of benefits. If you move, you must update your mailing address and telephone number by contacting the TCC at 1-888- 209-8124 (1-877-358-5306 for Out-of-State residents). On the telephone system, after you enter your Social Security Number and PIN on the touch tone pad and both are confirmed, you will be given the option, 鈥渢o change your name, address or phone number, press 1鈥? For Direct Payment Card users: once you change your address on our system, you must contact Chase Customer Service at 1-877-221-1634 to update your new contact information. For Direct Deposit users: once you change your address on our system, you should contact your financial institution to update your new contact information. http://www.labor.state.ny.us/formsdocs/u... If you were fired and did not get along with you boss you may have a problem. He/She can challenge unemployment checks. New York will not pay you and especially when it comes to moving from another state. You did not write from what state were you lost your job. |
