Paralegals or Legal Assitants?

Does anyone out there have a good career in the legal field being a paralegal/legal assistant? If so, do you like it and what education did you need? I graduated with my associates in paralegal studies, but I think I am in an area that is still yet to fully use paralegals, because I am nothing more than a secretary with a title. I just wanted to find out if others are in the same boat or what. Any advice from those in OHIO would be appriciated greatly!

I am in the Cleveland area and have an associates degree in paralegal also. i also have the title but feel more like a secretary, but i found out that i make more money as a "legal assistant" than an entry level paralegal. An entry level paralegal makes around $30-$32,000 starting and I currently earn more then that being a legal secretary...i dont plan on being a paralegal unless something great happens to come by because i cant afford to take the pay cut
