Can you get a government job with an other than honorable discharge?

First off I am a veteran. I am also a reservist and went awol since coming back cuz i sure as hell dont want to go back. Judge if you want... i dont care. I am a senior in Electrical Engineering and will be graduating soon. I want to know how an other than honorable discharge will affect my chances of getting a job in the Engineering field.

Realistically, it won't.

If you're not wanted for being AWOL (or if the situation is resolved), it shouldn't affect you at all. If it's not resolved at this point, I would suggest applying for a work visa in Canada (or another country) where it won't matter.

Employers will basically treat it like you've been fired, except that most HR people will dislike your previous employer and understand your situation. So in that way, it's better than having been fired from a normal job, plus they know that you're responsible.

Good Luck!
