One of those GRRRRR kind of moments...? |
At the job I am currently working at, which likes to think of itself as more of a career starter for young people going into management than a JOB, I have found myself recently frustrated at how things are run and how detrimental it is to the business and myself. First and foremost, we are supposed to be paid bi-weekly, yet most of the time without notice they pay us on 3 week schedules, then back to two and back and fourth. Then, they have asked me to keep meticulously good inventory on our Down Town Los Angeles site, so I do, but the management shifts are from 6-12 and 12-6, so doing this inventory on Monday and Friday takes time, so I'm there for a few extra hours those days. Well recently I aquired about 10 hours of OT for various things, including my staying to complete inventory, and staying extra time to deliver supplies to other sites as my superiors ask me to do, etc. but on my check they shorted me hours BIG time, and I got NO overtime! What are the Cal-OSHA Hi - It's not a Cal-OSHA problem, it's a dept of labor wage an hour violation (actually, several.) You must be paid for all hours worked, including OT. You must be paid on a regular schedule, which the company must post on its employee notice bulletin boards. They cannot change pay schedules without notice. Bring your concerns to your management, HR person, or payroll person. If that isn't successful, visit www.dol.gov and file a claim for free. Good luck. I would seriously consider looking for something else. These people are not playing fair. If you blow the whistle on them, you can get termininated, so I would walk softly, if you need this job that bad. I think in California overtime is figured daily and weekly. Anything over 8 hours daily is considered overtime/ over 40 in a week. Pay schedules cannot fluctuate -- however, are they paying every two weeks or on the 1st and 15th? There is a difference ... |
