Triplicate sales receipts/form - which is the customer copy?

For a triplicate receipt book, which copy is given to customers?

Top - white: original
Middle - yellow (duplicate)
Bottom - pink (triplicate)

Besides the customer copy, what are the specific purposes of the remaining copies? Thanks!

When we use triplicate forms, the bottom copy is for the customer, the original stays in our files, and the middle copy typically goes to our billing department to help collect payments.

Our business is regulated by the government, so they require we have an original, signed copy of every invoice kept on file. Source(s): 10 years in sales.
Usually it is the "pink" or bottom one. Good Luck ! :)
Customer gets the original, since they paid for the item. If it is returned, the original is the most clear proof of purchase.

The other copies are for management and accounting.
As far as I'm concerned, I want that original - the white one - the top one.

Why? Having the original proves I made that purchase at that time with the item[s] I purchased.
The opportunity for identity theft or adding additional items or doing something else, is greatly reduced.

I wish you well.

the original is usually the customer copy. The yellow one stays with the one who wrote the receipt (the third party) and the pink one goes to the company with which the sale was made from.
