Non work experience on resume? |
My boyfriend is starting to apply for marketing jobs, but only has had one job over five years at a retail place. However, he has a lot of marketing experience through promoting his now-defunct band and his website which is growing in popularity. I want these things on his resume, but how would I go about listing them? Any help would be appreciated. Use a Heading that says additional work experience. I have also seen a title called Life experience. Also, if you don't want to do that, in the cover letter state the experience. Good luck well that would be considered work experience so list it under that. Self employed - Marketing and promotion of musical talent and website. Included is the website that receives _____ number of hits per day. www. blahblahblah .com. Self employment is still experience! first list them under accomplishments or achievements. he most certainly should have a professional portfolio. it would ideally contain his resume, transcripts, awards, and achievements and anything else worth mentioning. just because it isn't work experience doesn't make it a unmentionable. Don't list them on a resume. It will only confuse the person reading the resume. Also, it will appear that he may be looking for just some kind of job until his band gets popular and that he isn't serious about an actual career. I wouldn't mention anything about the band. I wish you would have been more specific on what kind of marketing job. A sales job? |
