My co-worker and I are competing for the same job; our interviews are tomorrow. Any advice? I'm nervous.? dont be nervous! > first, to get rid of nervousness, you should prepare for the interview. being well prepared will give you the confidence you need. > read up on the job you are applying for. if it involves being a team leader -read up on leadership, handling a team, etc > if you can , try to know who will conduct the panel interview and make sure you know or are attuned to thei likes and dislikes and pattern you answers after their personality, or likes. remember, flattery will be a great advantage but make sure you are not overdong it. if its the same as what you beleive in, harp on that bec its easier to discuss what you beleive in. example, if they like empowerment in a team and you do also, you can discuss empowering your team. > be well dressed, be confident, smile a lot, be pleasant. ive interviewed a lot of people and even the good looking who appears detached and cold turns me off. however, a sunshine person (again, dont overdo it) will be in my favor anytime > sleep well, eat right before the interview > write down possible questions they might ask and answer them as well by writing down your answers. this is your practice answers. this will be your bible and read again and agaian before the interview > compose a winning speeech or closing speech. usually,, you wil be asked: what makes you stand out from the other applicant? here, you can make a pitch about yourself. so prepare for this question May the best win the job. Forget about the co-worker. It's no different than if you walked into a room full of people interviewing. It's normal. Now, for the interview. Find out something new about your company that by you sharing it shows the managers that you are looking outside your own sphere. Don't make suggestions. If they ask if you have any questions, make sure you do. That is their way of continuing the conversation. Don't be too quick to answer. If you need a moment, say something like: Hmm. Interesting.. Let me think about that for a second. Don't let it go too long, but it gives you time to regroup in your mind and answer the question properly. 1) relax..you still have a job! 2) you really don't know if your company has interviewed folks from the outside..most do to meet EEO requirements.. 3) Dress...for the job. 4) Good luck..let us know if you got the job! Hey just try to relax. I know its hard trying to impress the higher ups and trying to compete agianst a coworker. But if you are in sales then just try to be outgoing and suave. Try to be in control and be postitive at all times. you have posted this same question five times...and you have the nerve to report me??? grow up. |
