I really want to get into sales. I have a family so I need a base salary to make ends meet. Is this feasable?

My trouble is that I can only seem to get into companies that pay commision only! I know sales are slow at first but my family needs to eat. I always seem to go broke trying but I know that I am a great sales person, and I keep trying yet I can't seem to get through the initial month to get any sales. Can someone point me in a good direction, sales is what I am supposed to do, and I know it is where the money is. I really want to be in sales right up til my death! HELP PLZ!!!

Many times employers will offer a small base to get you started. Try to find these jobs, as it will help get you on your feet. However, the base is rarely enough to live on, so be prepared to hit the ground running.

The good news is that it sounds like you have the motivation and determination to succeed in sales. Just make sure you get a job with a company that offers training in their products/services. You'll need the knowledge to succeed. Also make sure your deep motivation doesn't appear like desperation to the customers. That's a big no-no.

I wish you well as you enter a new career field! Source(s): 10 years in sales.
do u want to telemarketing?are u a gal or a guy?where are you based?whats ur nationality?
If you are determined to be in sales, but can't handle commission only jobs, don't even apply for those. Look for companies that offer a base salary plus commission or a draw against commission, where you get an advance every payday, then it gets deducted when you start earning commissions.
A lot of companies have built their sales staff on commission only people. That being said, there are still a few companies that will give the draw or the base salary. The problem with either one is that it is barely enough to buy flavorite Mac & Cheese, because they want you to sell and not get used to the draw. Your best bet, check into some insurance companies. Some will provide a base salary with little commission while you are learning the job so you don't starve.
