I'm a distributor of food products. And I want to know:? When I am trying to get some new customers, is it appropriate for me to let them see a list of my current customers as well as the sales from each of my current customers? Can I supply them with contact people from my current list of customers? Is this appropriate or no? Please advise!!! Thanks in advance!!! I would tell them your current customers, but do not provide the sales because that is confidential information. I would also not provide contact people from your current list of customers to potential new customers unless you have discussed this with your current customers and they do not mind providing the reference. The best way to get new customers in this industry is to show why your products and service are better than their current food distributor and most of all, offer products at a lower price than your competitor. This should get your foot in the door and then you can gradually increase your mark up and margin a little at a time. Source(s): Work in the industry. When trying to convince a new customer to come onboard, it's tempting to 'boast' a list of existing customers. However, this may breach the confidentiality of your data. Your existing customers do appreciate the privacy of this as they may not wish to let their competitiors know who their source of products are. Contact no. & such are considered vital data and should not be let out. The only way is to seek approval from your existing customers before doing so. Adopting your proposed approach doesnt guarantee you'll get a new customer but instead, may potentially lose your current one. www.soundinvesting.blogspot.co... do not do that until you get approval from your management.. |
