Potential job - more in details, need advice? |
Well I had an interview with a local warehouse, and the interviewer asked me to come in tomorrow from 9-6 and spend a day with a trainer to get a feel for the company and if I seem like the right candidate, I will start as soon as possible. If no we would "shake hands and be friends" were his exact words, anyways, think its a good idea to go? 8 hours to check out the company seems kinda.. well stupid. Actually this is a great opportunity for you to see if you really want to work there as well. Many times we go in for interviews and don't get enough info from the employer to accurately judge if it is somewhere we want to work. Spending a full day there will give you a better prospective and help you (and the employer) make a more informed decision. Good luck! Source(s): 10 years in sales. Normally, a nominal fee is paid on a full day (working) interview...and he may yet do that...if he doesn't, I wouldn't think too highly of him. Example...full day working interview for a dental lab tech is $100, and I have never gotten less than that. However, if you are in sales...you wouldn't actually be producing like I did (two finished sets of $600 dentures...a normal production level for an experienced tech) so it may well not be the case...if you are just observing/meeting/learning things, that would be different. ask yourself if the 8 hours is worth investing before you turn down other jobs and jump into something. I took a management position with a firm who was great in the interview but I left after 2 weeks because the job wasn't as advertised. I had turned away three other positions to accept this one and now I need to start the process over. |
