How do you learn successful selling techniques? |
I've been in the design industry for years that combines a professional skill / talent with sales. Problem is that I am CONSTANTLY bidding out jobs that I'm not getting. People love my designs and ideas, and I know how to really listen, but I've never figured out how to close the sale. I feel like I would be far more successful if I had some sales techniques nailed down. Suggestions???? Its hard to say without knowing the particulars of how business is done in your industry, but a couple of basics come to mind: 1) Make sure you really ask for the sale. Look the customer in the eye and say "are you ready to finalize this purchase?" and then don't say a word until they respond. I am constantly amazed (and I'm not saying this is you...just a general observation) at how many people claim to have a hard time selling but they never actually ask for the sale! 2) Track your results! Sales is a numbers game, so keep track of the numbers: How many inquiries per month? How many proposals per month? How many sales per month? etc, etc, etc. Again, I don't know what the right metrics are for your industry, but you can't manage that which you do not measure. Start measuring, and then you can start seeing the impact of trying different ideas. Source(s): 20 years in business The best way to start of is by looking at the people who are doing well in your industry. Observe what they do and what makes them a better salesperson. There is something called the Copycat Management skills. This is a skill where you learn from watching others. Also, use some good closing lines. Like: Would you be interested in buying that>>>>> or I think that dress would look great on you. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. Best Manu N/A |
