Job at 14? |
I live in California, and I was wondering if there were any places here that hire at age 14. And I mean official jobs, like working at a restaraunt. So please don't say 'dog walker' or 'lawn mower' haha, thanks x] Most states have child labor laws that prevent kids under 15 (or sometimes 16) from working in most jobs. California seems to be a little more lenient than some states. I found online that to work in California if you are a minor (under 18) you must obtain an employer-specific work permit that has to be renewed each year. Minors 14-15 years of age may work 3 hours on a school day, 8 hours in a non-school day to a maximum of 18 hours a week. There are also restrictions on what times of day you can work. There are a list of types of jobs that are prohibited for children under age 16. There is a link below to some information about the California Child Labor Laws. Source(s): http://are.berkeley.edu/apmp/pubs/lmd/ht... there is no jobs avalible for 14yr olds... u have to be atleast 16 to get any offical job Some places would probably pay "under the table" but you need connections. blacksmithing, but I don't think thats your type of thing. you will need a work permit, see this link for more info http://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/ct/we/wpfaq.asp... find out. go out there and ask... some places will hire but some of the positions will not be those you may want because you're not 16 yet. ask around.. also there'll be some mom and pop places who would be more than happy to hire someone to help around their places of business. |
