How would you present this....? |
I have a business corporate internship and I have to do a presentation on people dynmamics focusing on leadership roles. I have alot of ideas I'm just wondering about other options.....Any suggestions on how I should present it ( yes, I'm using powerpoint) and what I should include in it......? you can start working on your ideas but first organize your thoughts and write down your ideas and classify them or segmentize them, that way you can have an outline. its always good to quote from excellent sources esp. from known leadership gurus such as John Maxwell, Bill Gates, Donald Trump. Athletes are great sources of quotes as well bec. it can be applied to corporate presentations such as Tiger Woods, Schumacher, Lance Armstrong. For every leadership topic or slide, you might want to quote from these leaders/well-known personalities. also, if you are going to use books, references, always cite your sources. it does not only make you credible bec. you use evidnce-based sources, it earns respect bec. you dont pass it as your own. Take a look at a program called Situational Leadership from the Ken Blanchard Companies. I've completed a couple levels of the training, and it has been very beneficial in my work life. In regards to your presentation, you could use some of the ideas put forth in this program. The basic premise is treating people with different levels of directive or supportive management, depending on their level of familiarity with a particular task. It breaks away from the idea of using one single management style with all of those that you interact with. As for your powerpoint presentation: DO NOT simply type your whole presentation into powerpoint and then read it to your audience! This a major mistake that many people make over and over. Use the powerpoint for major bullet points and ideas, and make your speech the focus of the presentation. make sure that you pick a template that has good color contrast, (background and text) and don't waste your time with lots of special effects. (such as fading in and out of slides, etc.) Remember that most people lose interest and attention after approximately 15 to 18 minutes, so don't let your presentation drag out. Short, sweet and to the point! Good luck! Formal leadership training. |
