What can i say on my interview 4 a sales job to impress the manager w/ no previous experience? selling ford? |
help i know nothing about cars. pls give me an overview. I used Learntosucceed.biz They are career consultants who speak to you on the phone. You buy their CD-ROM for about $30 and you get the phone number to talk on their advice line. They are great about interviewing skills and one of the modules you get on the CD is totally devoted to interviewing. I used them and it was the best money I spent. Good luck You need to be totally honest. Do not try an impress him that you are knowlegable of cars. If you are interviewing with a dealership they have programs to train their sales team. Just express to him your real desire to be a car sales person and if you truely can learn quickly, let him know that. The quickest way to loose a job is lie about what you know and it comes out very quickly when you start. What you say is not important HOW you say it..that's REAL important ! Be excited about the opportunity to begin a new career. You don't have to know a lot about cars, but you do have to know a lot about people in order to sell them. They have a training program and you'll have teammates to teach you about Ford products, so dont sweat that too much. Think of it this way.. The interview is your FIRST sale ! What are you going to do to close the deal? Focus on your strengths..be positive, upbeat, genuinely interested. If this doesnt come easy, then start looking for another job. But if you can communicate a sincere interest in HELPING people by selling them a product that they need, you'll be successful. And when it comes to selling yourself to a car sales manager, tell him/her over and over again one thing.. YOU ARE THERE TO MAKE MONEY ! That is the only motivation that sales managers care about.. They want you to be hungry and eager to earn a commission. So what will you say...? "I am here to make money." "I am here to make a LOT of money." "I am excited to be part of the team that makes money." But if you dont feel it and believe it, you'll be frustrated quickly and miserable even faster. Good Luck ED Honestly, if you are interviewing for a job with a car dealership, as long as you can fog a mirror you're in. Dealerships pay an outside training company to come in and teach a whole class of newly hired green peas. It lasts about a week and then you get to sink or swim. I've sold cars and from experience I can tell you selling cars can be fun and you can make a ton of money doing it. BUT, you are only going to get what you put into it and you have to work your butt off to be a money maker. It is long hours and very emotionally draining. There is a lot of pressure as well, but for some people, it is a great job. When you get into your training class, look around you; 90 percent of the other green peas you see won't be there in 2 months. That's the harsh reality of car sales. |
