How to sell a product?

How to sell a product?

1. Know it (your product).
2. Believe in it (enough to use it).
3. Believe in yourself.
4. Sell yourself. (Most people buy people before product.)

A. Honesty (no false guarantees)
B. Follow-up
C. Follow-thru (If you say it, do it.)

The first 4 will make a shopper into a buyer. The last 2 keep your buyers coming back and referring others. Source(s): I'm a shopper.
I'm a buyer.
I'm a seller.
Rule #1. Find yourself in a room filled with people who need your product.

That is, find an association of people who use your product and attend their meetings. Don't try to sell at the meeting. Just get to know the people. Get active on a committee.

If you don't know what associations to join, ask one of your customers what associations he/she belongs to.

I could offer more advise if I knew what you were selling.
Read any book written by Tom Hopkins. "The Art of Selling" was his first one.
First of all, you must know your product inside and out. You also need to understand what your competitors are doing and find out what the gaps are, or what the threats are to your product from competition.

The next step is to discover exactly what the buyer is looking for. The trick is to match your proposition to the needs of the buyer. When you have done that you are on common ground and have earned the right to talk about something that is saleable.

Make sure to listen to the client, not just talk to them. Otherwise, you'll end up never finding out what it is they are looking for, and whether or not you can fill that need.

Finally, I had a copy of the "10 Commandments of Selling."

SELLING: THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
1. Never fail to turn up for an appointment
2. Never promise anything you cannot deliver
3. Never knock the competition
4. Never argue with a prospective client
5. Never leave a lost sale thinking it is gone forever
6. Never turn up for an appointment reeking of alcohol
7. Never deviate from the purpose of selling
8. Never take rejection to heart
9. Never be afraid to admit you blew it
10. Never fail to keep your sales records up to date
A decade in sales.
