Do I need 2 separate cover letters to apply for 2 jobs at the same company, or will 1 do? |
Do I need 2 separate cover letters to apply for 2 jobs at the same company, or will 1 do? Yes- If the job description differs, you will want to make two separate cover letters. This is very important because you want to specify your abilities applicable to each job. Hiring managers do not want to hire someone just because they can do any job, they want to find someone who wants to do THAT specific job. Besides depending on the job, each application may go to a different hiring manager, for example if the job was in a different department etc. Other suggestions, Always answer every question in an interview with enthusiasm, and always have a question to ask the interviewer. I currently do the hiring for a large accounting firm, and nothing frustrates me more than someone who comes in with nothing to say. This is your opportunity to sell yourself to a company. Put both your resume and cover letter on a nice paper , most people put these on regular white paper, so doing a nice paper is an easy way to stand out. Be sure to call back and send a thank you letter if you get an interview. Have confidence and good luck! I would prefer to do to separate cover letter for each position highlighting appropriate skills from your resume. Even make the resume different with objective to prevent confusion. Also send them separately, like a day apart so the recruiter will put your resume into pile for both jobs, not just the one they think when they open the envelope and find two resume inside... Good luck! two separate cover letters, two copies of your resume ... treat it like you were applying at two totally different places |
