Why is it so hard for young professionals to find a job in the Tampa Bay Area? |
I have a marketing degree, 3 years of experience out of college. My degree is very broad and I can do several things (sales, research, ect...). I'm 25 and would be a great employee for the long haul with any company BUT all the interviews I go on cite "lack of experience" as their major concern. Half the jobs on the web are BS jobs Am I alone here or are other young professionals finding it difficult to find good work??????? I'm SICK OF TAMPA BAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! California isnt any better, I'm straight out of college with a degree in Economics/Finance from a UC and have been unable to get a job in the 2 months that I've been looking for one. I also have three years experience, I think its the job market in general; It seems to be on the edge of collapse. You'll notice many will say lack of experience, I've figured out its more of your image than what you know. Also, the job market is being run by uneducated idiots who would prefer experience over a well educated person, this is why the economy is going to hell. I actually live a little north of Tampa. I did go to Tampa for a marketing job. There was a new company that opened up, so thought I would give it a try. I ended up not interviewing, by choice, but they hired just about everyone. You can always go into a sales position for a big company, then move into marketing. I just decided to join a company, running a home business. It is hard to find a marketing job though. God luck! Make some connections or look for the job fairs. |
