I made an *** out of myself after getting fired. Please help!? |
I was fired this week and it was pretty dramatic and emotional. After I left the office, I tried to explain what happened to some colleagues (at that point I know I shouldn't have, I know it was wrong) but I was so upset and made myself look like such an idiot. I called like six of them to talk to them and they were so weirded out and never want to talk to me again. How do I pick up from here? I am mortified... never been fired before Just put it behind you and move on. It's part of EVERYONE'S life experience to make an idiot of yourself occasionally. The worst thing you can do is to continue to beat THAT particular dead horse. One thing I've found is that ex-coworkers won't give you the time of day if they think it will jeopardize THEIR jobs by taking your side, whether or not you're right. Learn from this experience and put what you've learned to good use in your next job. NEVER look back . . . move on and do better next time. Good luck and G-d bless . . ! :-) First of all, they should understand that getting fired is an upsetting, emotional event that can cause anyone to do or say things they ordinarily wouldn't. Call one of them (the person you were closest to) and apologize for your actions/statements. Say you were upset and not thinking straight. Then see if he/she would be willing to meet for lunch. That could give you a quiet, more relaxing atmosphere to discuss it further. Assuming you weren't fired for "gross misconduct", you should file for unemployment and apply for another job. Since you posted this question under Marketing & Sales, what did you sell? Did they stiff you on back commissions? I've worked on straight commission for my whole life. It's the ultimate quandary. Companies need sales but they treat the sales force like roaches. Good luck, - CarlD I just don't know what to say, not enough information or particulars. Why were you fired? What did you do to look like an idiot? Personally, I've been fired twice, and it was the most liberating thing that could have happened. It allowed me to get out of a job that I didin't like, and move on. You'll do the same. zipper Try not to worry about it. (easier said then done) It happened to me same type of thing and later really did find a better job. Not easy but if they did that you dont want to work there any way. Good Luck |
