Soliciting? |
I had an interview yesterday with this "marketing" company and i say that using the term lightely. Anyways it was a day long interview that in wich i followed a sales rep around all day. Basically the job was walking door to door in specified neighborhoods. The clientele was a little more specific than that though... they were all current at@t customers. Anyways the job was to knock on each door giving the home owner a little presentation/speech about a new offer at@t has for them. The goal was to sign as many people up as possible and the presentations took about 45 min... another thing the service didn't cost any money all it took was a free saturday to let a technician install new wiring and stuff. The job was purely commission and with each sale/agreement you received $60. They say they shoot for 3 sales a day. Another thing is it's a 6 day week all told a 60 hour week. Do you think it's worth it? you don't make money on cold calls-go for a real job-they pay comission because there isn't enough money in it to pay a regular wage-think about it--otherwise ,if it was that good people would be beating down their door to buy it Ya know I hate when people come to my door selling stuff. It's as bad as calling at dinner time. No it isn't something I would do. I hate rejection to begin with. Wow. Yeah, I dont think its worth it. I wouldn't do it, I need my weekends off. This sounds like a bit of a scam to me. I have friends that had similar experiences after college. The job was listed as "marketing" and then they would make them go door to door as part of the "interview" after three hours, they refused to keep going, and were left at a closed train station approx. 1 hour from their cars. They ended up having to take a almost $100 cab ride to get home. I would suggest looking elsewhere. Plus, if it is purely commission based, you have no stable pay, and to be honest, if you don't meet their quota, they will probably let you go before you can blink. Personal Experience it sounds like you have it pretty good. i sold coupon books in Michigan, working from 9am to 9;30pm mon-sat, and made between 10 and 30 dollars a day. they said if i was really good at the sales pitch, i would make good money, but the guy who was teaching me, and had an awesome sales pitch, made less than me. as long as you get the money they say you're supposed to get, it sounds awesome. good luck!!! |
