Job interview as a buyer?

Hi I have an inetrview next week as a buyer for a pharmaceutical company. I know the products really well and have work at this company before so know the company well. However, I've always worked in marketing, and wondered what a buyer does? Can anyone give me an insight as don't want to look silly, but wondre if they're more interested in my expertise in the field? Thanks xx

I use to work as a buyer. You will usually be given a category of product and then your job is to go out and find the most marketable products in that category (usually you will have a marketing department to help you with this) and then you will negotiate the best prices and terms for that product among different vendors that are capable of producing it. It's pretty sweet. You get your butt kissed a lot by vendors.
buyers take many roles, but the end target is the same. Build relationships with suppliers, negociate terms & prices, and often building & creating new types of products. Usually some reporting in there too.
