I could do what i want throughout the day without being micro-managed and as long as I sold and kept my numbers up everything was ok. I'm wondering if pharma sales is like this at all or are you really making 10 calls on doctors a day? Also, do you have an office to go into every morning, or do you just head out to the field? Some info on this would be very helpful...and specific company info is even better! Thanks so much!!!
I suggest you stay where you are. From the tone of your question, it sounds to me like you are looking for an easy job that will take care of itself. Hate to say it, but pharma sales is not for you if you are not willing to work hard. Pharma Sales Reps who work hard and who are focused reap the rewards, lots of it. On the other hand, Pharma Sales Reps who wait for manna to fall from heaven fail and are eventually weeded out.
Pharma Sales is field sales, so we do not go into an office each morning. Our car is technically our office. Making 10 calls a day may be a requirement for some companies, but not for all. More important in pharma sales is the quality of the calls, not so much the quantity. Discipline, accountability and maturity are key to one's success. Good luck!
