Job Application Question! - Do I call to say something!? What do I say? |
I just submitted my Resume & Cover letter to a Marketing Director (luckily I have contacts within this company already). I introduced myself (by phone) and notified her of my application, last Friday. A colleague also alerted her of my intention to apply for this job. I am applying for a Marketing Manager position (assisting her, the Marketing Director)... Should I phone her to say something? You should wait about 3-5 days, and then call to verify they received the resume, and ask if they had any additional questions for you. Also research the company, in particular the news page. See what new things they have going on and think of any questions you may have regarding the new thing. This way you will seem forward thinking and interested in the company. Wait until the interview before saying anything.....maybe they'll forget to ask. I'd probably follow up just to inquire if she received the resume and speak rather impressively. This is going to be your 10 seconds you get to impress. I would call - especially if you want to prove yourself for the position that you are applying for. A business will be looking for an extremely assertive type person to market their company. Call a few times to ask if they received your resume and to see if they can set up an interview with you at their earliest convenience. This persistance will show you are the right one for the position. Career Counselor - 7 years. if you can't market yourself into this job how good could you be marketing their products? Think about it Yes, after the interview...write an email thank them and say you really look forward to joining forces, you found they truly offer what you're seeking ,,,, a career opportunity...Use the KISS system. (Keep it simple stupid) |
