Hi! I am a sales man, with a job offer that has nothing to do with my current profession. what should I do?

what do you want to do?
follow your heart.

we always know what we want to do. the being confused is when we try to talk ourselves into what we think we "should" do instead.
Do you feel up for a change? I'd take it! Unless you love sales, why not branch out and see what else is out there? You can always return to sales... this could be very exciting!
If you are interested in the job and it will pay the income you need, go for it. People who are in sales often succeed in other fields too because they are outgoing and are used to long hours and hard work. Plus you will have more experience in another field, nowadays it's good to be skilled in more than one field.
If you see that you can make a larger salary and can grow within that company and can also do the job well. Take it.
But most importantly can you see yourself doing this type of work 10 years from now and still be happy. If you cam take it
So, did this offer come out of the blue? Was it something you were looking for? You aren't giving us enough info to assist you.

You need to sit down, compare the pros and cons, and decide, are the cons things I can live with? Are there more pros than cons? Is this something I can do? Do I have a fallback plan?

And then, listen to that little voice in your head. The one that is either telling you -- you must be missing something because this can't be right, or the one saying -- there have to be more pros, or trying to put a con in the pro column with a creative adjustment. That little voice is going to tell you if you really want this or not.

Most of the time, we as people know what to do, we just don't take the time to listen.
its quite hard to answer this question, its quite unclear how different it is from your profession.

but...ive met a lot of people who are not really practicing their profession but are doing really well; and usually it happens in the field of sales and marketing.

weigh it. if you feel you need a challenge and you honestly feel that you can do it, go for it. I dont think you will be offered if the other company does not see your capacity to do it. also, check out the other compnay, if they have a good track record.

bottomline , its a risk but it should be a well-thought out calculated risk. take time to really study your options.
