Is it possible to motive sales people who don鈥檛 want to excel? |
Is it possible to motive sales people who don鈥檛 want to excel? No. you can't motivate the dead. The problem is in your hiring practice. Hire for attitude, train for skill is the old saying, and its true. Money talks!!!! Give them some type of money incentive. Some people are just not cut out to be in sales. The question is quite vague. Hope you can give additional info. If my understanding is correct, the sales person is still in sales role and meeting his target, but does not want to exceed it. Or somebody who is happy with his current role and not willing to take additional role or responsibility. Please advise. Thank you It's a twisty road with inconsistent results. If it's even worth the effort, find out the things that they do want to excel in. Not everybody gets motivated by money - as crazy as that sounds when talking about people in sales - some are motivated by other eccentric things the job offers them like - fiery competition (they will work their tails off if the objective is not so much as to sell a certain amount in dollars, but to beat this other person and feel superior to them). You'd be amazed at the results if you can find each particular person's "buttons" you can push. It takes time to do this, but if they are worth investing time and energy on your part, the results may be spectacular. Get ready for a long term commitment to constantly push the buttons - if it doesn't come naturally, maybe it was not meant to be. |
