I need help making a career decision....? |
I am currently in sales. I have a base of $45k + 25% comm. + cell + car gas insurance + full tuition reimbursement which I am taking advantage of. I have been interviewed for a management position and made it to the final 2 candidates The other candidate had 10 yrs more experience with the company. I was offered a job in the same field and different company for $65k + 30% comm. + car (no tuition reimbursement). The money would make things easier but I would have to build up my reputation and go into an unknown territory and build it from scratch. I feel that if I tough it out here, I will eventually be rewarded but who knows when with cut backs and the economy. WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Why don't you start with an honest conversation at your current company? With your supervisor or other appropriate manager. Ask them what your career opportunities are, and whether you could be given that promotion with 3 years, 5 years, etc. If they see you as their next potential manager, then great. If they hesitate to give you an answer on your career opportunities, then start looking elsewhere. I would ask myself if I was ready for the promotion. I think ask here you have doubts about your own worth??? Look inside, you will know! Tough it out Mate! id take the other job. you arent always going to be in school. if you advance in the new job eventually it would probably pay accordingly. but i think you want someone to say stay put .................but i like change so go for it hurm... if u loves the condition n environment now, in your current job. why change? but if u think u'll be great with new changes.. why not go for new environment n new challenges! good luck! |
