How many interviews did u go through to land a job? |
So far, i've had 5 interviews..... and none of them were successful ....i am REALLY discouraged........ feeling really depressed...... i applied to entry level marketing position, and I HAVE NO IDEA that it can be so competitive...WHY! is it normal to go through more than 5 interviews to land a job ? I went through 10-15 interviews before I got two offers. This was spread out over my last two semesters in college, most of them being in my last semester. I wouldn't sweat it, relax, and remember it's as much about you interviewing them as them interviewing you. Ask questions about the job. "What would my first day/week/month entail?", "Would there be travelling? What % of the time?" "What kind of training is there to begin with?" Research the companies website, and google them, find points of interest that you can tell them about in the interview. I'm sure you already know the basic questions, (Strengths/Weaknesses?, where do you see yourself in 5 years?, what was your favorite/least favorite course, why?) Get these answers and rehearse them Also many interviewers are into more behavioral questions.(IE. Give me an example of.... A time you and a co-worker disagreed, what did you do to resolve it? A time you overcame a challenge, and how? An example of time management) These were all questions I was asked in my interviews. Be confident, keep it simple, and don't be afraid to show enthusiasm(but don't be over the top). You've only had 5 interviews, give it time. Also if you're really interested in the position, like someone else said ask what the next step is. If they don't call you when they say they will, call them. Hope this helps Source(s): My interview experience don't let it get you down. you must have a good resume to get that many interviews, you just need to work on your interviewing skills. Try to act more confident in your words and body language. There are career centres that can help you too. Five interviews seems to be excessive. However, I would not say that they were unsuccessful interviews. If they were unsuccessful, you would not have gotten the next interview. Believe me, no hiring manager wants to take the time out of their day to interview people. But maybe 5 interviews is their typical hiring process. Who knows? Do you have a 6th interview lined up? If so ASK for the job. They are clearly interested in you, other wise they wouldn't take the time to call you again and again. The job market is incredibly competitive, especially for entry level jobs. One you're more senior, I promise it will be easier. In the meantime, if you can, try to call back the places where you interviewed and ask for feedback. There could be a number of reasons why you weren't made an offer. You're not as qualified as another applicant. You didn't perform well in the interview. Your clothes, your attitude, your confidence level all play into how you are perceived. And in the end, maybe they chose to hire their brother's cousin's husband's nephew. Sometimes it's just luck. Just keep at it. Welcome to the REAL world. :) 5 interviews with the same company or different companies? If its 5 interviews with the same company move on. They don't know what they are doing. If its 5 interviews with 5 different companies, try asking for the job at the end of the interview or at least find out what the next step in the hiring process is. |
