What does the "*" mean in advertistments?

i see * or ** in the end or beginning of some sentences in advertisements what does that mean?

That means there is a note at the bottom of the advertisement for you to read. There may be rules or exceptions they want to let you know about. Quite often, it might just be to give you information about the end date of a sale or offer.
it means hunt for the small print.
It means to look below on the bottom of the advertisement in a small font for further explanations, perhaps the advertisement is for specific individuals that meet such requirements or maybe is a warning sign, something like " We are not liable for blah blah blah."
It usually means there's fine-print, like "Computer shown with optional accessories - not included. Box includes empty PC tower, left-mouse click button and half the keys on the keyboard" (Even-numbered keys sold-separately).
it means you need to read the fine prints for the catch
