Referencing similar products?

If I am selling a product that is similar to another am I legally allowed to describe it as "works just like (referenced product)"?

Hi There,

So you are ready for war? Remember the great ad war between Pepsi and Coke?

depending where you are, yes you are allowed however I would discourage that. Since you are marketing the alternative product, do not attack the original as it is sure to have more marketing ammo to shoot you down.

Perhaps positioning it as "Works for less money for better / same results than the competion" or be positive position it as " just a little better then C******* ..

Good luck
Do not say your product works just like another and then call the others name! You need to develop your own brand. Mentioning the competitors name on your dime is not the way to do it. If you feel you must compare, simply say " works just like other well known brands". Again do not promote your competitors name. Let them spend their money to do that!
